Organizational Framework and Working Relationships Protection Officers normally report to a Protection Officer or Senior Protection Officer. The incumbent will oversee safeguarding standards, operations, and practices consistent with international standards and provide functional safeguarding support to information management and program staff.

Task
A.      Assist in recruiting, deploying, reassigning, and separating field service personnel. Prepare documents for interview panels to hire local employees.
B.      Process local employee contracts, qualifications, and benefits in accordance with human resources regulations and established human resources procedures.
C.      Update HR-related information in the MSRP/HR module if this activity is implemented by the PAS in each office.
D.     Advise staff of their rights, responsibilities, benefits and entitlements and assist UN/UNHCR staff in interpreting rules and regulations.
 
E.      Assist newly arrived international staff with administrative procedures related to certification, security/ground clearance, submission of completed forms and related documents to headquarters, and travel and hotel reservations.
F.       Work with logistics department to assist with shipping personal items.
G.     Administration of UNHCR health insurance plans for locally employed personnel. Provide administrative support to employees and families during medical evacuation and safe evacuation/relocation. Keep daily records of employees and their families so that accurate information can be provided in the event of an emergency.
H.     Maintain personnel records within the office, including attendance, overtime, and vacation records.
I.        Arrange the calculation of HR-related payments such as: B. Resolving Travel Claims, Overtime Claims, Hazard Pay, MIP Reimbursement, Medical and Safety Evacuation, and Transportation Expenses.
J.        Initiates routine communications regarding personnel matters for approval by the authorizing official.
K.      Supports the identification and management of risks and strives to capitalize on opportunities to impact objectives in areas of responsibility. Ensure risk decisions are based on functional workspaces. Raise risks, issues, and concerns to your manager or relevant functional colleagues.
L.       Performs other related duties as required.
